The story of Bovikanam began in 1960 under Fr. Vincent Menezes, parish priest of Narampady, to spare local Catholics a grueling 13-kilometer journey to church. The initial chapel was blessed on April 14, 1982, by Bishop Basil S. D’Souza, establishing regular weekend Mass and catechism for local families.

To better serve the growing pastoral needs, the Chapel was entrusted to the Pallottine Fathers on June 1, 2016. Recognizing its spiritual vitality, Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza officially elevated Bovikanam to an independent quasi-parish on May 1, 2018, dedicating it as the Resurrected Christ Church.

The landmark occasion was celebrated with a solemn thanksgiving Mass led by Vicar Forane Fr. Valerian Frank, during which Fr. John Baptist Moras of Narampady formally transferred parish records to Bovikanam’s new priest, Fr. Stany D’Souza.

Now uniting around 25 families, this vibrant community stands as a testament to persistent faith, local initiative, and dedicated pastoral care.
