HISTORY :

Allipade, formerly a part of Agrar, gained its independence as a parish on May 22, 1938, under the auspices of Bishop Victor Fernandes. Initially under Agrar’s direct care, a small school in the area served temporarily as a chapel. On March 9, 1939, Fr Aloysius Furtado became the inaugural parish priest and resided in the school while organizing Mass in a thatched shed. The first presbytery was constructed by Fr Paul D.G. Rego from Agrar.

A church was built during Fr Gilbert Pinto’s tenure (1948-67) and was consecrated by Bishop Peres on December 26, 1955. Interestingly, Mr. Felix Pai from Mangalore donated timber worth Rs 2000 for its construction. Fr G. Pinto also facilitated the construction of a road to Allipade and acquired a bell from Mangalore’s Milagres Church for Rs 1,000. Fr Michael Pereira (1967-79) built a new presbytery, while his successor, Fr Alban D’Souza (1980-93), oversaw the erection of the belfry. Finally, Fr Alexander Lobo (1994-2002) spearheaded the church’s renovation, and a new school building was constructed under Fr Lowrence Mascarenhas’ guidance.

In 2017, the church underwent reconstruction under the guidance of Rev. Fr Fredrick Monteiro.

Location: The Church is situated on the western banks of the Netravati at Sampady grama in Bantwal Taluk and about 35 km east of Mangalore City. Shamboor, Madanthyar, Nirkan and Borimar are its immediate neighbours.
