MANGALURU: The Diocese of Mangalore officially brought the “Jubilee Year of Hope 2025” to a solemn close today, December 28, at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Cathedral, Rosario. The ceremony, held on the Feast of the Holy Family, marked the culmination of a year-long spiritual journey for the Catholic community.
Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore, presided over the stational Mass. He was joined by concelebrants Very Rev. Msgr. Maxim L. Noronha (Vicar General), Very Rev. Fr Daniel Veigas OP (Episcopal Vicar for Religious), Very Rev. Fr Naveen Pinto (Judicial Vicar and Coordinator of Pastoral Commissions), Fr Valerian D’Souza (Parish Priest, Rosario Cathedral), Fr Santhosh Rodrigues (Director, Pastoral Centre), Fr Rudolf Ravi D’Sa (Vicar Forane, Pezar), Fr Anil Ivan Fernandes (Director, Canara Communication Centre), Fr J.B. Crasta (Director, St Antony Ashram), Fr Valerian Fernandes, and Fr Jason Lobo.
Liturgical Significance and Rites The celebration highlighted several key symbolic elements prescribed for the closing of the Jubilee:
The Jubilee Cross: The decorated Jubilee Cross, which had been exposed near the altar throughout the year, served as the central symbol of the celebration.
Prayers of the Faithful: The assembly offered special intercessions reflecting the year’s spiritual journey, praying for the Church and the world to be strengthened in faith.
Presentation of Gifts: In the spirit of Jubilee redistribution, the offerings included significant contributions for the poor, symbolizing ongoing charity and solidarity.
Communion under Both Kinds: Signifying the fullness of the Eucharistic banquet, the faithful received Communion under both kinds.
Te Deum: Following the post-communion prayer, the Bishop led the congregation in the Te Deum, a grand hymn of thanksgiving for the graces and indulgences received during the year.
Bishop’s Message: From Jubilee to Daily Life In his homily, Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha emphasized that while the ritual year has ended, the mission of hope remains. “The Jubilee Year of Hope is closed, but the hope still continues. Our faith leads us to be hopeful,” the Bishop stated. He urged families to mirror the Holy Family of Nazareth by practicing compassion, kindness, humility, and patience.
The Bishop noted that the year was a period of immense grace, with eight designated shrines in the diocese serving as centers for indulgence. He encouraged the faithful to return to their daily lives strengthened by this “particular period of prayer and closeness to the Lord”.
The ceremony concluded with a Solemn Blessing and a dismissal that charged the congregation to always be ready to provide an account for the hope that is within them. The Jubilee Theme Song, “Pilgrims of Hope,” was sung with great fervor, marking the official transition of the faithful back into their daily mission as witnesses of the Gospel.

ವಿಶೇಷ ಜುಬಿಲಿ ವಿಧಿವಿಧಾನಗಳು: ಸಮಾರೋಪ ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಜುಬಿಲಿ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ವಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸಲಾಯಿತು:
- ಜುಬಿಲಿ ಶಿಲುಬೆ: ವರ್ಷವಿಡೀ ಬಲಿಪೀಠದ ಬಳಿ ಇರಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಲಂಕೃತ ಜುಬಿಲಿ ಶಿಲುಬೆಯು ಈ ದಿನದ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
- ಸಾರ್ವತ್ರಿಕ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ: ಈ ವರ್ಷದ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಪಯಣವನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸುವ ಮತ್ತು ಚರ್ಚ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಲೋಕದ ಶಾಂತಿಗಾಗಿ ವಿಶೇಷ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
- ಕಾಣಿಕೆ ಅರ್ಪಣೆ: ಜುಬಿಲಿ ವರ್ಷದ ದಾನ-ಧರ್ಮದ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿ ಬಡವರಿಗಾಗಿ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ ವಿಶೇಷ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ದಿವ್ಯ ಬಲಿದಾನದ ವೇಳೆ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
- ಕೃತಜ್ಞತಾ ಗೀತೆ (Te Deum): ಜುಬಿಲಿ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ದೊರೆತ ಕೃಪೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪಾಪಕ್ಷಮೆಗಾಗಿ ಬಿಷಪ್ ಅವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡೀ ಸಭೆಯು ‘Te Deum’ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತಾ ಗೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾಡಿತು.
ಬಿಷಪ್ ಅವರ ಸಂದೇಶ: ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರವಚನದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಷಪ್ ಪೀಟರ್ ಪಾವ್ಲ್ ಸಲ್ಡಾನ್ಹಾ ಅವರು, “ಜುಬಿಲಿ ವರ್ಷದ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳು ಇಂದು ಮುಕ್ತಾಯಗೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು, ಆದರೆ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಭರವಸೆ ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಬತ್ತಬಾರದು. ನಮ್ಮ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಭರವಸೆಯತ್ತ ಮುನ್ನಡೆಸಬೇಕು,” ಎಂದರು. ಪ್ರತಿ ಕುಟುಂಬವು ಕರುಣೆ, ದಯೆ, ನಮ್ರತೆ ಮತ್ತು ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯ ಗುಣಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿರಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹಿತವಚನ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಧರ್ಮಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಎಂಟು ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ವರ್ಷ ಪಾಪಕ್ಷಮೆಯ ವಿಶೇಷ ಅವಕಾಶವಿತ್ತು. ಈ ವರ್ಷದ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಶಕ್ತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಭಕ್ತರು ತಮ್ಮ ದೈನಂದಿನ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇತರರಿಗೆ ಭರವಸೆ ನೀಡುವ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗಳಾಗಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಮಂಗಳ ಜ್ಯೋತಿ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಫಾದರ್ ರೋಹಿತ್ ಡಿಕೋಸ್ಟಾ ಬಲಿಪೂಜೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದರು.
