Bishops of United Methodist Church USA visited Most Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza the bishop of Mangalore diocese on 7 January at Bishop House Mangalore.
It is for the first time seven bishops of United Methodist Church USA visited India on a project to study the multi – religious multi cultural situations in India. The Bishop of Mangalore welcomed the bishops viz: Bishop Peggy Ann Johnson, Bishop Violet Lucinda Fisher, Bishop Warner Harrison Brown, Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar , Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball , Bishop Jonathan Doyle Keaton , Bishop Peter David Weaver with the garlands. After the introduction and socialization, the documentary on the diocese of Mangalore was screened, followed by the discussion about the present religious scenario in Mangalore.
Bishop responded to their queries and urged strongly to work together as one Christian Community to spread the message of Jesus in spite of all the differences. The Director of Canara Organization for Peace and Development (CODP) Fr. Oswald Monteiro gave a picture about developmental works carried on the diocese of Mangalore through this social service organization. Fr. Francis Rodrigues the Editor Rakno, Fr. Richard D Souza Director Canara Communication Centre and Fr. Victor Vijay Lobo Director Sandesha were present at the occasion.
