MANGALURU, AUG 09 : Canara Organisation for Development and Peace (CODP), Mangalore inaugurated free tailoring classes for the rural women under NRM project at Grama Panchayath Sabha Bhavan in Chelairu, Mangaluru on August 5, 2021. Around 32 women have registered for the one month tailoring course.
Mrs Asha Rodrigues, SHG member welcomed the gathering. Ms Lenet Gonsalves, Program Manager enlightened the participants about the agency, viz., CEI, Italy which is collaborating with CODP to conduct tailoring classes at various centres under NRM project. She encouraged the students to accept the challenges of life in order to have a successful career. She also spoke about the importance of the training and how women could improve their skills. She wished them success for their future.
Mrs Hitha, Tailoring Instructor, explained in brief regarding the method of making cloth bags, the requirements, dimensions and how to go about it.
Mrs Moly Furtado, Jyothi Daya, SHG members shared their experiences to the participants as tailors.
Mrs Pushpaveni and Mrs Shilpa DSouza from CODP assisted in making prior necessary arrangements. Mrs Rekha, Panchayath member proposed the vote of thanks.
