CODP holds awareness on Sparsha – Campaign against Cancer at Kapikad Govt. School

MANGALURU, NOV 19: On the occasion of Children’s Day Caritas India and CODP® Mangaluru, organised Sparsha- Awareness on Cancer for the students of Kapikad Government school on November 15, 2021 here in the city.

Ms Shilpa Dsouza coordinator of Sparsha welcomed the faculty and students for the awareness talk. She stated the causes, symptoms and types of cancer. She mentioned the ratio of mortality which has occurred due to cancer. She focused on the early detection and treatment of cancer. She informed the students that the use of tobacco, alcohol, smoking and consumption of fast foods, would also lead to cancer. She advised the students to avoid eating junk food was also told to the children attended. In order to prevent the disease students were suggested to grow vegetables in their own garden without using chemicals which will reduce the risk of getting cancer and other related diseases. By doing yoga and exercise we can maintain our fitness she added. She further said, “Adopting healthy life style we can Beat Cancer” and therefore reduce the rate of mortality.

One of the students expressed that session was very interactive and proactive.
