Jan 08, 2017: More than 8 Thousand faithful participated in the grand Eucharistic procession of Mangaluru diocese held from Milagres Church to Rosario Cathedral on Sunday January 8 here.Prior to the procession, Mass was offered by bishop of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza at Milagres Church.
The procession led by the bishop culminated at Rosario Cathedral where adoration of the Holy Sacrament was held.
Delivering his message, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza said, “We should pray to God with a pure heart to seek blessings. God has given us a new year to do good for ourselves as well as to others. Let peace prevail everywhere. He also announced that year 2017 is dedicated to Small Christian Communities in the diocese to make more effective and vibrant. He called on people and priests to take this mission as pastoral importance in the diocese this year. He said that faithful must participate in the ward gatherings and thus foster brotherhood in the neighborhood. He requested every member of the family to participate in the small Christian community as it helps to strengthen faith of one another and to render service to one another.
Suratkal parish priest Fr Paul Pinto in his homily said, that Eucharist should help us to build communities and to break ourselves to serve our brethren as our master did. Our Truine God is the base of our community, Eucharist is the nourishment and word of God is the guiding light for us to live in communities. Sharing faith and life in service activities will keep our communities vibrant he said.
As the year 2017 is dedicated for Small Christian Community in our Diocese Dr Aloysius D’Souza unveiled the logo for the year and also announced the programme for the whole year in the parishes and wards.
Bishop released a book “Vadyaso Gurkar Somiyacho sahavavradi” a hand book for Ward Gurkars to guide their ministry published by Diocesan Small Christian Commission
Parish priests and representatives were honoured with momentos for the highest collection on Mission Sunday in Mangaluru diocese.
