❤️ Spread the love ❤️ |

The Migrant Commission of the Diocese of Mangalore, in collaboration with the Mangalore Chhota Nagpur group, celebrated the vibrant Karam Festival at St. Aloysius University campus on September 28, 2025. Around 300 migrant Catholics from the region participated in the event, which began with a solemn Eucharistic Adoration and Confessions, setting a reflective tone for the day’s celebrations.

The highlight of the event was the special Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Yashveer Minj CMF in Hindi, concelebrated by Fr. Sushil Xess SVD, Fr. Henry Saldanha SJ, and Fr. Jason Pinto SDB. During the homily, Fr. Sushil emphasized the importance of giving thanks to God, especially for the natural world, which the Karam Festival serves as a reminder.

The cultural program that followed was a true showcase of the rich heritage of the tribal groups residing in Mangalore. Captivating cultural dances, skits and songs were performed with great enthusiasm, highlighting the community’s deep connection to their traditions. The festival concluded with a sumptuous lunch, traditional dance and light-hearted moments, fostering a sense of community and fellowship among the participants. Special thanks were extended to the Jesuit Scholastics for their valuable collaboration and assistance in making the event a success.
