Senior priest Fr Norbert D’Souza (96) dies of Cardiac arrest

MANGALORE, AUGUST 17: One of the senior priests of the diocese of Mangalore, Rev. Fr Norbert D’Souza passed away due to severe cardiac arrest while travelling to his hometown on Wednesday noon on August 17, 2022.

Fr Norbert D’Souza hailing from Mai de Deus Church, Puttur was born to Basil Liguory D’Souza and Piedade Catherine Pais on August 02, 1926. He was ordained priest for the diocese of Mangalore in April 06, 1954. He was 96 when he breathed his last.

Fr Norbert D’Souza leaves behind his loving brother priest Rev. Fr Clifford D’Souza who is also a priest of the Diocese of Mangalore and his loving sister Hilda D’Souza.

Fr Norbert D’Souza, a priest of the diocese of Mangalore, served as an assistant parish priest at Belman, Pezar, Kirem, Rosario Cathedral and Mogarnad. He served as Parish Priest in Nirkan, Bajpe, Pernal, Pezar, Angelore and Ujire.

Fr Norbert retired from active ministry in 2002 and was residing at Senior Priests’ Home, St Anthony Institutes, Jeppu, Mangalore.

We raise our hearts and minds in prayer for the respose of his soul. May the Lord count him among his elect and grant him eternal rest.

His Funeral Mass and Burial Service will be held on Thursday 18.08.2022 at 3.30 p.m. in St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia.

Father was my principal in ujire dat time i was in 4th standard,use to visit everyday afternoon,very loving and kind father…i cried wen he retired.Finaly i met him in ashram wen i was doing my mbbs ,miss him a lot. May his soul rest in peace..
