Nov. 15, 2016: ‘Besanv’ (Blessing) a Konkanni devotional audio CD produced and directed by Rev Fr Rupesh Madtha, the YCS/ YSM Director for Mangalore Diocese and Winston Madtha, was released at Holy Redeemer Church, Belthangady on Sunday, 13th November 2016. The Parish Priest Rev Fr Bonaventure Nazareth released the audio CD which is for the first time in the parish history. The Holy Mass before the program was offered by Fr Rupesh and his brother Fr Rajesh Madtha OCD, Chaplain at St Paul’s Hospital, British Colombia, and Vancouver, Canada.
The CD contains 12 devotional hymns of which 10 are from Fr Rupesh and one each from Mr Joel Pereira and Mr Wilfy Fernandes. Mr Joel Pereira and Mr Roshan D’Souza have done music harmonizing and arrangement. A few prominent singers Shilpa Cutinha, Prajoth D’sa, Lydwin Cutinha, Ashwin D’costa, Nihal Tauro etc have given their voice. The CD is dedicated to Late Most Rev Dr Archbishop Ambrose Madtha, the Papal Nuncio to Ivory Coast from 2008 – 2012. He expired in a car accident on 8th December 2012 in Ivory Coast. The late Nuncio was the uncle of Fr Rupesh and Winston.
The releasing function was witnessed by the family members, donors, singers and more than a thousand parishioners. Miss Priyanka Madtha compered the short program and Fr Rupesh gave a note of introduction and especially acknowledged the encouragement by the Bishop of Mangalore Most Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza. The donors and singers were honored later. Fr Bonaventure, the Parish Priest gave a note of appreciation after the release.
The CD is also created in support of YCS/YSM activities in the Diocese. The day of release is also the 134th birthday of Cardinal Joseph Cardijn, the founder of YCS. Miss Lavita D’souza and Aroline D’souza from YCS have contributed their voices for a song in the CD.
