MANGALURU: Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore, celebrated the joy of Christmas with the residents of St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, on Thursday morning. The Bishop presided over the festive Solemn Mass, praying specifically for the inmates, donors, well-wishers, and the dedicated staff who sustain the charitable mission of the ashram.
In his homily, Bishop Peter Paul emphasized the profound nature of the Incarnation. “Through the birth of Jesus, God revealed Himself to humanity in a tangible form. Had Jesus not been born, we might have held onto abstract or even absurd ideas about the Divine. Today, we have a clear and beautiful picture of God as a baby—gentle, innocent, simple, joyful, and kind,” the Bishop stated, reminding the faithful that “God is Love.”
The Bishop further urged the congregation to transition from mere celebration to meaningful connection. He gave a clarion call to “move from celebration to relationship,” stressing that Christmas is truly meaningful only when it inspires individuals to build strong bonds with their brethren through selfless service and compassion.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, the Bishop spent time personally interacting with the ashramites. In a heart-warming display of pastoral care, he was seen surrounded by the elderly, the youth, and the destitute, exchanging festive greetings and sharing the joy of the season.
The Mass was concelebrated by Rev. Fr J.B. Crasta, Director of St Anthony Charitable Institutions; Fr Praveen Martis, Administrator; Fr Nishanth Vivian Rodrigues, Assistant Administrator; and Fr Anil Ivan Fernandes, Director of Canara Communication Centre.

ಮಂಗಳೂರು: ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಧರ್ಮಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದ ಬಿಷಪ್ ಪರಮ ಪೂಜ್ಯ ಡಾ. ಪೀಟರ್ ಪಾವ್ಲ್ ಸಲ್ಡಾನ್ಹಾ ಅವರು ಗುರುವಾರ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಜೆಪ್ಪುವಿನ ಸಂತ ಅಂತೋನಿ ಆಶ್ರಮದ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ಮಸ್ ಸಂಭ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಆಶ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಸಂಭ್ರಮದ ಬಲಿದಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಷಪ್ ಅವರು ಆಶ್ರಮದ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳು, ದಾನಿಗಳು, ಹಿತೈಷಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಆಶ್ರಮದ ಸೇವಾ ಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರತರಾಗಿರುವ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದರು.
ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಬೋಧನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಷಪ್ ಪೀಟರ್ ಪಾವ್ಲ್ ಅವರು ದೇವರ ಅವತಾರದ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು. “ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಜನನದ ಮೂಲಕ ದೇವರು ಮನುಕುಲಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ತಾನು ಪ್ರಕಟಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಯೇಸು ಜನಿಸದಿದ್ದರೆ, ನಾವು ದೈವತ್ವದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ ಅಥವಾ ವಿಲಕ್ಷಣ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆವು. ಆದರೆ ಇಂದು ನಮಗೆ ದೇವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ ಚಿತ್ರಣವಿದೆ; ಅದುವೇ ಮಗುವಿನ ರೂಪದ ದೇವರು – ಸೌಮ್ಯ, ಮುಗ್ಧ, ಸರಳ, ಸಂತೋಷದಾಯಕ ಮತ್ತು ಕರುಣಾಮಯಿ. ದೇವರು ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಸ್ವರೂಪಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ,” ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಿದರು.
ಕ್ರಿಸ್ಮಸ್ ಕೇವಲ ಬಾಹ್ಯ ಆಚರಣೆಯಾಗದೆ, ಅದು ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳಾಗಿ ಬದಲಾಗಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಬಿಷಪ್ ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು. “ಆಚರಣೆಗಳಿಂದ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳೆಡೆಗೆ ಸಾಗೋಣ” ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಕರೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾ, ನಮ್ಮ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಸಹೋದರ ಸಹೋದರಿಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ ದಯೆ, ಸೇವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಬಲವಾದ ಬಾಂಧವ್ಯವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿದಾಗ ಮಾತ್ರ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ಮಸ್ ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ದಿವ್ಯ ಬಲಿದಾನದ ನಂತರ, ಬಿಷಪ್ ಅವರು ಆಶ್ರಮದ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕವಾಗಿ ಸಂವಹನ ನಡೆಸಿದರು. ವೃದ್ಧರು, ಯುವಕರು ಮತ್ತು ಅಶಕ್ತರಿಂದ ಆವೃತವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಬಿಷಪ್ ಅವರು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೋರಿ, ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು.

ರೊಸಾರಿಯೋ ಕೆಥೆಡ್ರಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ಮಸ್ ಜಾಗರಣೆ ಪೂಜೆ
ಹಬ್ಬದ ಮುನ್ನಾದಿನವಾದ ಬುಧವಾರ (ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 24) ರಾತ್ರಿ, ಬಿಷಪ್ ಪೀಟರ್ ಪಾವ್ಲ್ ಸಲ್ಡಾನ್ಹಾ ಅವರು ರೊಸಾರಿಯೋ ಕೆಥೆಡ್ರಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ (ನಮ್ಮ ಲೇಡಿ ಆಫ್ ಹೋಲಿ ರೋಸರಿ ಕೆಥೆಡ್ರಲ್) ಕ್ರಿಸ್ಮಸ್ ಜಾಗರಣೆ ಬಲಿದಾನವನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿದರು. ನೂರಾರು ಭಕ್ತಾದಿಗಳು ಈ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡು ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಜನನವನ್ನು ಸಂಭ್ರಮಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಷಪ್ ಅವರು ದೈವವಾಕ್ಯವು ನರರೂಪ ತಾಳಿದ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸಂದೇಶ ನೀಡಿ, ಧರ್ಮಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಸಂಭ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.
