Nov 6, 2016: The Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail celebrates its Annual Parish Feast every year on the First Sunday in the month of November. This year the feast was celebrated on the 6th of November with great splendour and spectacle. The Church was illuminated with lightings, decorations and celebratory mode on the eve of 6th November itself.
The Feast Mass commenced at 9 A.M. with the Parish Priest, honouring the parishioners who had contributed towards the expenses of the day with candles. Subsequently, the Holy Mass was offered by Rev. Fr. Peter D’souza as the main celebrant. Rev. Fr. Austin Peres (the Parish Priest), Fr. Gratian Alvares (The Parish Resident), Fr. Walter Pinto, Fr. Andrew D’souza, Fr. Maxim D’souza and Fr. Anil Lobo were the Co-Celebrant Priests who presided over the Holy Mass.
In his Homily, Fr. Peter D’souza elaborated in a lucid yet concise manner on the significance of the day. An assortment of things like fruits, vegetables, hosts and wine was offered by the members of the church as a symbol of their gratitude towards the almighty. The Parish Youth Choir added to the solemnity of the ceremony. The liturgy for the day was initiated by the members of the Parish Pastoral Council.
To add to the celebratory note various stalls were set up by the members of Sports Club, CLC, YSD and YCS. Games were conducted for the young at heart. Besides, Housie was organised with huge cash prizes as a special attraction. The festive mode that prevailed in the Church premise for two days culminated with thoughts of having the same kind of celebration in the years to come.
