The 10th National Youth Convention Cross Journey 2016-17 which began in the Arch Diocese of Bangalore on the month of April, 2016 reached the host diocese soil, the Diocese of Mangalore on December 11, 2016 and now the cross has finally reached the host deanery of the NYC 2017. The cross has embarked a journey of over 300km of the Mangalore Diocese and its finally nearing the venue. The NYC Cross was received in its grandeur by the City Deanery on 13th January 2017 from the Pezar and Mother Theresa Deanery at 4:30 p.m. at The Holy Cross Church, Cordel, Mangalore.
The cross was ceremoniously handed over by the director of Pezar deanery Rev. Fr Edwin Dsouza, the president Mr. Royson D’Cunha, the Secretary Ms. Elvita D’Souza and the members of the ICYM Pezar Deanery to the Vicar Vara of City Deanery, Rev. Fr Victor Machado on behalf of the ICYM City Deanery.
The cross was taken in procession to the church by the ICYM City Deanery President, Vernon Crasta and placed by the ICYM City Deanery council on its prominent position in the altar. The vicar vara then conducted the prayer service for the supreme success of the NYC. The prayer service was followed by a mass for the Holy Cross. The Vicar Vara expressed his gratitude towards the Director, President, Secretary and all the members of ICYM Pezar Deanery and wishes all success to the X National Youth Convention, Mangalore.
Rev Fr Paul Prakash Dsouza, the director of ICYM City Deanery, Rev Fr Anil Avild Lobo, Director of ICYM Cordel unit, Rev Fr Austin Peres, Parish Priest of Derebail Parish, Rev Fr Gratian Alvares, Editor of ‘Amchi Maai’, President of ICYM Cordel unit Vivan Pinto and the members of Cordel unit, the parishioners of Cordel were present on the occasion.
