The annual Eucharistic procession of the Mangalore Catholic diocese was held from Milagres Church to Rosario Cathedral here on Sunday January 4.
The procession started with the solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza, along with a large number of concelebrant priests of the diocese and a huge number of the faithful at Milagres church.
The procession was led by the bishop finally culminated at the Rosario Cathedral grounds. The faithful with great devotion adored the Blessed Sacrament publicly by singing praises and offering prayers all the way during the procession from Milagress church to Rosario cathedral.
Addressing the faithful, the Bishop thanked for coming in large numbers to the procession. He urged the congregation to guard their faith appreciated and congratulated for the mission Sunday collection which reached almost a Cr. He announced that this year is dedicated to consecrated life and people should talk good about the priests and the religious.
Informing the progress of Same mission, bishop urged people to continue prayer and support.
Fr. Deep OCD broke the word of God highlighting the relevance, challenges of consecrated life and Eucharist as the source to live our consecrated life to the full.
The parish priests who were responsible for the highest Mission Sunday collection from the parishes of the diocese were honoured by the bishop with mementoes. This year the collection was Rs 98.99 lakh, 17 lakh more from the last year. Cordel Church stood first, Bejai Parish second, Derebail and Milagres Church in third and fourth place respectively.
Bishop unveiled the “Wake up the World” the logo of the year of Consecrated life 2015 at the occasion.
The statue of Blessed Joseph Vaz, was blessed and handed over to the parish priest, Paner which was taken in colorful procession to Paneer church which will be later taken to Mudipu Shrine dedicated to St Joseph Vas. The canonization of Blessed Joseph Vaz will take place in Srilanka on January 14, 2015.
