Oct 26 : Recently the Government of Karnataka had advertised for vacancies to the posts of VA (Village Accountant) and PDO (Panchayat Development Officer) in the District of Dakshina Kannada. In view of the same, the CODP organized an orientation programme for the benefit of those aspirants who would like to take up government jobs as their future career. The program that was held on the 18th of October 2018 was attended by around 131 youth aspirants.
The resource person Mr Stephen Quadros, Associate Professor, Government College for Girls, Puttur first invited the participants to introduce themselves, give their qualifications etc. He started his talk by giving some details about CAP Cell. He said that, CODP is only an institution and not a government dept to provide government jobs. He gave some details about CAP Cell and its objectives. He then oriented the participants on how to apply for the VA/PDO vacancies, the procedure to be followed, age limit, reservation policy in government jobs,etc.
Thereafter he clarified that though there is no examination for the posts, relevant documents as per the requirements should be attached to the application without fail or else the application could face rejection.
Further he gave details about other government jobs and various service exams like KPSC,UPSC, KEA,RBI,UGC,BSF,KAR, KAS etc.
The activities were supported by audio-video presentations so that the participants can understand it easily. He also gave examples citing various famous personalities.
After his talk some questions/doubts were asked by the participants which were duly clarified by the resource person with examples.
The vote of thanks was given by Mr Noel Lobo, CSP Coordinator, CODP. He invited two participants to say a few words about the programme and how it was conducted. The participants responded that the orientation gave them a lot of confidence and knowledge about VA/PDO Posts. They expressed that it was worth attending the programme.
There was a loud standing applause to the resource person and CODP. The programme concluded with light refreshments for all.
