ICYM Arva unit celebrated its silver Jubilee on 08.02.2015. From July 1st to this date there were 25 organized programmes for catholics and others which kept the youth united and it was a forum for them to come together. The year long programme was materialized under the leadership of Miss Ancilla Jyothi Fernandes with the support of Mr.Joachim Crasta, the animator, the Jubilee committee and the members of the ICYM Arva unit. The grand finale began with Holy Eucharist offered by Rev. Fr. Arun Lobo, Director of Diocesan Counseling Centre Mangalore, at 8.30 am followed by refreshments and a number of lucky games for the parishioners.
Cultural evening was coloured by the students of St Peter Claver English Medium School, YCS students, ICYM members and ‘Isiri’ Drama troup. Rev. Fr. Ronald Prakash D’Souza, Central youth Director, Mangalore, inaugurated the cultural fest and he distinguished the constructive and destructive energies of youth and encouraged them to use it constructively.
Rev. Fr. Abel Lobo, Parish Priest, presided over the event and elucidated the uniqueness of ICYM, the radical imitation of Jesus as a youth. Rev. Fr. Simon D’ Souza, Varado youth director, Belthangady, Miss Melrida Jane Rodrigues, Diocesan ICYM president, Sri Stany D’ Souza, Varado ICYM president and Sri Sebastian Pais, Vice president of Parish Parishad Arva were on the dais. Around 1000 people in and around Arva enjoyed the event and partook in the fellowship meal arranged by the ICYM members. During the cultural evening all the former presidents were felicitated and their contribution for the growth of the unit was appreciated. All those who supported for this event either in cash or kind were also remembered.
