June 29, 2019 : TEAM ACHILLIUS, a team of students working on Electrical Solar Vehicle at St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, took part in a number of National Level Electric Solar Vehicle Championships held throughout the year and brought laurels to the college with their outstanding performances.
The team that was registered in September 2018 consists of 30 members with students from across departments of the college. The first ever Electrical Solar Vehicle launched from SJEC has its own self fabricated solar panel and customized gearbox. The team completed their design and appeared for Future Solar Design Challenge (FSDC) from 13th to 16th March 2019 at Chitkara University, Punjab and ranked 2nd in Karnataka and 11th all over India. The team also participated in Electric Solar Vehicle Championship (ESVC), Asia’s largest Solar Car event, clearing the pre-virtual held at Chennai from 12th to 14th October 2018 with a ranking of 1st in Karnataka and 4th all over India. The team then participated in the main event of ESVC from 25th to 31st March 2019 at Chandigarh University, Punjab securing the 3rd rank in Karnataka and 17th rank all over India. The team continues to strive for perfection with their hard work and dedication.
