The Diocese of Mangalore officially launched its Catechetical Year 2025 on June 8, 2025, with inaugural services and special Masses held in all parishes. The chosen theme for the year, “Faith Formed, Hope Filled,” will guide catechetical instruction and reflection throughout the coming months.
Prior to the main Mass, a separate inaugural service was conducted in each parish, bringing together key stakeholders. This included the Parish Priest, the Vice President of the PPC, the Catechetical Coordinator, teachers, and representatives from both students and parents, highlighting the community-wide commitment to faith formation. A significant moment during the Mass was the taking of the oath by the catechists following the homily, signifying their dedication to their teaching ministry.
Sunday Catechism classes, a central component of the year’s program, are set to continue until the end of March 2026, providing consistent spiritual growth opportunities for the faithful. The successful organization of this inaugural event was a collaborative effort by the Diocesan Catechetical Centre and the Commission for Faith Formation, under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Vijay Machado (Director), Rev. Fr. Rohit Dcosta (Designate Director), and Rev. Dr. Vincent Sequera (Assistant Director).
