The five-week Bible course titled “God With Us,” centred on the Gospel of Matthew, concluded meaningfully at Holy Cross Church, Cordel. Held every Saturday from 07 June to 05 July 2025, between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., the course drew an enthusiastic crowd of 225 parishioners, eager to delve deeper into the life and teachings of Christ as portrayed in Matthew’s Gospel.
The programme commenced with a solemn Bible Enthronement Ceremony led by Rev Fr Clifford Fernandes, Parish Priest, accompanied by Rev Dr Vincent Sequeira (Diocesan Secretary for the Commission for Bible and Resource person), Mrs Ruth Castelino (Vice President, PPC), Mr Anil D’sa (PPC Secretary), Fr Vijay Monteiro (Assistant Parish Priest), Fr Denzil Lobo, Mr Dolphy D’Souza (Convener of 21 Parish Commissions), and various commission secretaries including Mr Pradeep Mischith (Bible and Faith Formation), Mrs Helen Lobo (Proclamation), Mrs Nelly Corda (Liturgy), and Mrs Juliet Menzes (BEC).
The sessions offered insightful reflections, structured learning, and interactive engagement with the Word of God, helping participants encounter Christ more deeply through Scripture.
In his concluding remarks, Fr Clifford Fernandes expressed heartfelt gratitude to the resource person, Rev Dr Vincent Sequeira and the organising team, and commended the faith-filled commitment of the participants. He also encouraged them to continue this journey of biblical formation by joining the upcoming classes on the Gospel of Luke, soon to be launched at the parish.
The course was a vibrant witness to Cordel’s growing love for the Scriptures — a true sign that the Word of God is alive and active in the hearts of the faithful.
