MANGALURU: The second batch of the annual spiritual retreat for the clergy of the Diocese of Mangalore was held at St Joseph’s Inter-Diocesan Seminary, Jeppu, from December 7 to December 12.

The retreat, a significant annual spiritual exercise for the priests, was guided by the Auxiliary Bishop of Delhi, Most Rev. Deepak Tauro.

The six-day period of prayer and reflection served as a dedicated time for the clergy to withdraw from the distractions of the world and the busyness of administrative duties. The sessions focused on deep introspection, allowing the priests to examine their consciences and “look into their hearts” to realign their lives with the Divine.

In his reflections, Bishop Tauro emphasized the retreat as an efficacious remedy to “priestly lukewarmness.” He guided the participants in renewing their fervour for prayer, ecclesiastical study, and pastoral charity. The retreat was highlighted as an essential spiritual defence against the growing worldly dangers that threaten to draw the faithful away from God and their mission.

The serene atmosphere of St Joseph’s Seminary provided the ideal setting for this sacred time of silence, ensuring the clergy returned to their respective parishes and institutions spiritually recharged for their pastoral mission.
