Community day concluding, Rosary Year Inauguration and Fr Austin Peres’ 50th Birthday celebration at Derebail Parish

Mangalore, Jan. 15, 2018: Community day concluding, Rosary Year Inauguration and Parish Priest Fr Austin’s 50th Birthday celebrated at Derebail Parish on Jan 15, 2018 at 5 pm.

Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail marked the triple celebration on the 15th of January, 2018. It concluded the Year of SCCs, inaugurated the Year of Rosary and celebrated the Golden Birthday of Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Austin Peres.

 

The faithful gathered for a solemn thanksgiving mass at 5 in the evening. The mass which was celebrated in the open air was presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the Bishop of Mangalore. It was concelebrated by the priests of the Varado and the neighbouring Varados. During the homily, the Bishop stressed the importance of the rosary in the life of a Christian. The theme of the celebration was: “ಗೊವ್ಳ್ಯಾಚೆ ಜತನೆಖಾಲ್ ಎಕ್ವಟಿತ್ ಸಮುದಾಯ್ “.

After the Eucharistic celebration, there followed the felicitation to the Golden Jubilarian. The resident priest Fr. Gratian Alvares welcomed the dignitaries. The Vicar Var of City Deanery V. Rev. Fr. Victor Machado inaugurated the Year of rosary and stressed the importance of rosary in our families. In his report, the Parish SCC Convener Mr. Gerald enunciated the efforts of the people to build SCC in the parish. The Diocesan SCC director Fr Walter D’Souza appreciated the efforts of the parish in building SCCs. The souvenir was released. The Gurkars, Association Presidents, the Executive Committee Members and the Achievers in various fields were honoured by the Bishop and the Vicar General.

 

The birthday boy and his twin brother Mr Steven Peres cut the cake. The vice president Mr. Edward Coelho felicitated the Golden Jubilarian. Rev. Fr. Willaim Barboza raised the toast. The Bishop in his message appreciated the parishioners of Derebail for their generosity towards the priests. The Golden Jubilarian Rev. Fr. Austin Peres expressed his sentiments and thanked the parishioners for their care and concern towards him. The donors were honoured by the Bishop. The secretary of PPP, Mrs. Lizzy Fernandes thanked everyone for their hard work in making the triple celebration a meaningful one. Mr. Victor Correa and Mrs. Pramila Rodrigues compered the programme. The Bishop prayed the grace before the meals. The relishing dinner was prepared by the parishioners.
