With the intercession of Mary the Mother of God and St.Joseph Vaz,the Patron, the foundation stone is laid for the new home for the retired Priests of Mangalore diocese, By Most Rev Aloysius Paul D Souza ,at St.Antony’s Charitable institution premises on january 1
The Bishop led the prayer and blessed the foundation stone of the clergy home named as “St.Joseph Vas Home”. Bishop expressed his appriciation and requested the priests present to contribute financially towards the completion of the mega project.
Speaking at the occassion Fr.Willaim Menezes the PRO and Estate Manager gave details regarding the project. The project spreads the area of 95 cense of land at st.Antonys institute.The clergy home is named as St.Joseph Vaz Home after the memory of the saint who came to Mangalore.The project provides homes for 35 priests. Three storied building consists of 60000 square feet , costing 12 crores, with well furnished rooms and all the modern facilities required for the senior priests to spend their retired life peacefully.The project will be completed by 2016 May.
Along with Bishop Mnsgr Denis Moras Prabhu the Vicar General, Rev Fr . Henry Sequiera the Chancellor, Fr.John Vas the Procurator, Fr.Onil the Director of St.Antonys’s Home, Mr.M.P Noronha Secretary Diocesan Pastoral Parished, Fr.Patrick Rodrigues the Director Fr. Muller Hospital, Fr.Joseph Martis the Rector st. Joesph’s Seminary and many priests were present at the occassion.
