Mangalore Bishop hands over 24 houses to poor

Mangalore diocese handed over houses to 24 beneficiaries under its free housing scheme at Kunjathur village in Talapady, Mariashram of Kasargod district on 22.12.2014, after the inauguration and blessing of the houses.

Bishop Most Rev Aloysius Paul D’souza handed over the houses built on 35 cents of land within the jurisdictions of Mariashram Church. Each house is of 550 square feet with RCC construction. It has a bedroom, hall, kitchen, toilet and bathroom. Houses are provided with 24X7 water facility with overhead tanks and well. Houses were constructed at an esteemed cost of Rs 1.5 crore through Marian Infrastructures director Naveen Cardoza, said Diocesan PRO Fr. William Menezes.

 

“We have considered income sources and health conditions of family members while finalizing beneficiaries. A cooperative society will be formed for the maintenance of houses,” Fr. William Menezes said.

A small felicitation program was arranged after the blessing of the Houses. Fr Onil D’Souza compared the programe, Fr William Menezes welcomed the gathering and Pius D’souza proposed vote of thanks. Mr. Naveen Cardoza was honored by the Bishop, for completing the project within nine months with a fine touch. Msgr. Denis Prabhu, CODP Fr. Oswald Monteiro, Parish Priest Fr. Nelson Olivera and others were present.
