Saturday, June 11, 2016 was a great day in the history of Mangalore – Africa Mission [SMAM]. St. Joseph Boys’ Science Secondary School, Kituri, Mwanga, Tanzania, East Africa celebrated the blessing &  inauguration programs of its newly built “MR. PAUL & MRS. MAUD DE JONG MEMORIAL SCIENCE LABORATORY COMPLEX” at its school campus Kituri.

 

Honourable Mr. SaidiMeckSadiki, Regional Commissioner of Kilimanjaro, Inaugurated the Science Laboratory Complex, Honourable Mr. ShaibuIssaNdemanga, Mwanga District Commissioner (DC) Inaugurated the Chemistry Lab, Mr. Jamhuri David William, Mwanga District Executive Director (DED) Inaugurated the Biology Lab, Mr. Andrew Tamamu Zonal Chief Quality Assurance Officer, Moshi Inaugurated the Computer Lab, Mrs. PiliMande, commissioner ofPolice, Mwanga District,Inaugurated the Physics Lab.

After the Inauguration, His Excellency Most Rev. RogathKimaryoC.S.Sp. the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Same, Tanzania conducted the prayer service & blessed the Laboratory Complex, Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Hilary Lobo & Sr. Grecilda Cutinha; Second Headmistress assisted the prayer service.
After the prayer service & Blessings, His Excellency Most. Rev. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Mangalore, India; unveiled the Name Plaque & dedicated the Laboratory complex to the students by handing over the lighted/ burning candle.
After the Short break, all dignitaries &guests were gathered at the school community hall for the Symposium & for the formal function. Program started with prayer song performed by students, Rev. Fr. Alwyn M.J D’Souza, Manager of the school extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries with shawl & garland. In the Symposium Mr. Kilipanwambu, National facilitator & Trainer for Teachers, Tanzania, delivered the Key Note address on the topic “Future of Science & Technology in Tanzania & the role of teachers & secondary students”. All the dignitaries responded for the Key Note. Rev. Fr. Victor Machado, headmaster of the school moderated the Symposium.

After the Symposium students performed the Robot Dance & Skit based on Science. Mrs. Leonardo Lagua; Teacher, Consultant& PRO of the school proposed the vote of thanks. Teachers Mr. Moses, Mrs. Naku Margaret & Mrs. Gudila compared the program. This complex is built by the generous contribution of the Stolkhom Diocese, Sweden.

350 people were present for the program.

At the end community meal was served to all guests & students, Fr. Jason Lobo & others looked after the arrangements & preparations of the scrumptious food.
