Dec. 23, 2016: In the Diocese of Mangalore water harvesting, increasing the sources of ground water, protect the environment and go green environment is a motto and will be carried throughout the year 2017. Jesus Christ is born in a clean, serene and peaceful atmosphere said Most. Rev Dr Aloysius Paul Dsouza, Bishop of Mangalore in his Christmas message.
Jesus Christ was born in a manger surrounded by domestic animals in a small village named Bethlehem in the town of Jerusalem. Being born in a family surrounded by a clean, non polluted environment Jesus Christ taught his followers to be free from all types of uncleanliness and become pure both within and outside of themselves. The teachings of Jesus are relevant and even to this day.
In the Bishop House compound at Kodialbail water harvesting is initiated for both bore well and open well and the compound looks lushy green with plants and trees. Moreover the Churches and Institutes under the Diocese of Mangalore are instructed to take up seriously the water harvesting and nurturing greenery.
Bishop said that he will send a circular to all the Parish Priests and heads of the Institutions requesting them to instruct their faithful to discourage them from burning all types of fireworks during festivities and celebrations in order to protect the nature from noise and air pollution.
