Govt. of India, Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Development Institute (Rachana) along with CODP organized a ‘Skill and Entrepreneurship Awareness programme’ for CODP’s SHG members in CODP-ISD, Mangaluru. The 9-days programme was held from 4th to 12th Jan.2016.
The inaugural programme commenced with a prayer song led by SHG Members. The coordinator from Rachana, Mr. Kiran welcomed the Chief Guests and the other participants. The chief guests of this programme were:
Mr. Louis J Pinto, Convener of Rachana EDC ,
Mr. Gilbert D Souza, President of Rachana and
Mr. A Socrates, Deputy Director of MSME Development Institute.
Rev. Fr Oswald Monteiro, Director CODP presided over the programme.
Mr. Socrates in his addressing speech highlighted that, State and Central Government, commercial and industrial departments have several schemes and subsidies which are available to the people. The unemployed youth should avail these schemes and subsidies and benefit from them so as to enhance their income and prosper in their lives.
Fr. Oswald Monteiro in his speech said to the participants that we should first of all have self confidence in order to be self-employed. From a humble beginning we should try to rise to higher level with hard work. He also said that there are many government schemes for the unemployed youth, so the government officers should encourage the unemployed youth to avail these schemes in order to get employment.
The following self employment training programmes was conducted for the SHG members:
Detergent powder making, Candle making, Paper bags and flower making, First Aid and Home care, Facilities from Nationalized Banks and book keeping, Entrepreneurship Awareness, Book keeping and accounting, Financial Literacy, Karnataka Govt. Dept. Subsidy Schemes, Entrepreneurship Qualities and skill development.
All the 25 members participated in this training programme actively and they learnt the skills for future self employment. The success of this programme was due to the efforts of CODP animators Mrs. Chandrakala and Mrs. Hemalatha.
