Feb 1, 2017: At the back ground of the centenary of Marian appearence in Fathima (1917 – 2017) the Young Catholic Students (YCS) in the diocese of Mangalore held ‘YCS Rosary Meet’ on Sunday 29th January 2017.  The Rosary had to be prayed all over the Diocese on a same day. Accordingly  the members gathered in their own parishes and prayed 5 decades of Rosary devoutly and creatively like holding lighted candles in hands, singing etc. In many of the parishes the parish priests and people in large number accompanied the students.

The twofold objective of the prayer campaign was the good result for all the students in the forth coming final exams and also to proclaim the Marian Devotion. The young PUC students guided by the priests and accompanied by the animators took part with lot of enthusiasm. Bishop of Mangalore Dr.  Aloysius P D’ Souza had blessed the students prior to the meet through a video clipping in the media. Rev Fr Rupesh Madtha, the Mangalore Diocesan Director for YCS/ YSM had generated this idea and administered the Rosary Campain. There are around 2,500 YCS (PUC) students in the Mangalore diocese spread in 102 units of 12 deaneries of Mangalore diocese.
