Feast and General Body meeting of St. Christopher Association (R) Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Aug. 4: St. Christopher Association (R) one of the oldest association (Estd.1967) in Mangaluru city celebrated its Annual Feast and General Body on Sunday, 4th August 2019. This Association is a body of vehicle owners and drivers and has a membership of over 1700.

The Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha presided. Dr.Julian Saldanha, R.M.O. of District Wenlock hospital, Mangaluru was the chief guest. President of the Association, Sri Francis Dsouza welcomed the gathering. Sri Sushil Noronha, Hon. president of the Assn. introduced the chief guest.

The chief guest in his message said that the driver of a vehicle has great responsibility towards the safety of the passengers. Hence he has to drive the vehicle carefully following the traffic rules. The driver’s safety is the safety of all the passengers in the vehicle. Hence his life is important. As a doctor also he has great responsibility towards the life of his patients. Thus, both driver and doctor have an important role to play in rescuing the lives of the people through their selfless service to the society.

The children of the members of the Assn. have been honoured by the spiritual director and treasurer of the Assn., very Rev. Fr. J. B. Crasta with cash and kind awards for securing distinction in their respective fields of study. Also honoured, Ms.Primal for her outstanding achievement in the field of sports. Dr. John Edward D’silva , a member of the Assn. was felicitated and honoured for securing Phd. in management.

Rev. Fr. J.B.Crasta exhorted the members to be in good relationship with the public and by their selfless service to be a model to others. The president in his speech appreciated the good work done by the Assn. for the past 52 years in their service to the society they should show compassion, cooperation, tolerance even to the people of other religions. In this way they should strive to bring peace, harmony and trust among them. He wished the Assn. all well. Ms. Leena D’souza, assistant secretary of the Association. gave vote of thanks.
