MANGALORE,MARCH 01: The Papal envoy to India, His Excellency Most Rev. Fr Leopoldo Girelli who is the Apostolic Nuncio to India & Nepal paid his pastoral visit to our Lady of Holy Rosary Cathedral on Sunday 26th February 2023. He was accompanied by Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’souza Bishop Emeritus, Monsignor Maxim Noronha, Rev Fr. Vijay Victor Lobo, Rev Fr. Victor George D’souza, Rev. Fr. Trishan D’souza and Rev Fr. Maxim Rosario.
Rev. Fr. Alfred J. Pinto, Rector of Rosario Cathedral along with the Resident Priests Rev Fr. Vinod Lobo, Rev Fr. Santhosh Dsouza, sisters and parishioners welcomed them with flowers and he entered the church with the procession singing “ಇಗರ್ಜ್ ಕಥೊಲಿಕ್ ರೊಮಾಚಿ”
Rev Fr. Alfred Pinto welcomed his Excellency and briefed the history of our Diocese and our cathedral. His Excellency Most Rev. Leopoldo Girelli celebrated Holy Eucharist concelebrated by Bishops and priests.
After the mass His Excellency in his address, appreciated the people of Mangalore and the apostolic service rendered in our Church. Bishop Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha thanked the Rector for the arrangements made. He also thanked the Parish Parishad members and the parishioners and the beautiful choir as well. Later His Excellency, with the Bishops, Priests and the parishioners joined for a photograph.
