CHILIPILI SEASON 1: A Vibrant Showcase of Talent and Togetherness

Mangaluru, December 03, 2024: The Young Catholic Students (YCS) of Mangalore Diocese, in collaboration with St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), hosted the inaugural CHILIPILI SEASON 1, an event overflowing with talent, energy, and camaraderie on December 01, 2024.

The day began with Holy Mass at 8:00 am at the St Aloysius Chapel. The grand inaugural ceremony at 9:00 am was presided over by Rev. Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Vice-Chancellor of St Aloysius University. Sri Ivan D’Souza, Member of the Karnataka Legislative Council, was the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries included Fr Lourd Raj, Secretary of the Karnataka Regional Youth Commission; Fr Ashwin Cardoza, Secretary of the Youth Commission, Mangalore Diocese; Fr Roshan D’Cunha, Director of YCS/YSM Mangalore Diocese; Ms Janet Pinto, Coordinator of YCS/YSM Mangalore Diocese; and Mr Ruben D’Souza, Animator of YCS/YSM. The university’s PROs, Ms Shilpa and Ms Shanti, along with Mr Deyon Saldanha, President of YCS Mangalore Diocese, also graced the occasion.

A Day of Celebration

CHILIPILI SEASON 1 transformed the St Aloysius Campus into a hub of electrifying performances, including music, dance, and a kaleidoscope of vibrant acts. Teams from six deaneries of the Mangalore Diocese competed in a variety competition, while four bands clashed in a Battle of Bands.

Adding to the excitement were workshops and engaging activities that highlighted the creativity and spirit of YCS members. A flash mob by the Diocesan Executive Council became the highlight of the day, leaving the audience thoroughly enthralled.

Valedictory Ceremony

The grand valedictory ceremony was presided over by Rev. Fr Melwin J. Pinto SJ, Rector of St Aloysius Institutions. Mr Vishwas Rebimbus, the Chief Guest, joined the Guests of Honour, including Mr Anson Nazareth, National President of YCS/YSM India; Mr Richard Alvares; Fr Roshan D’Cunha; Ms Janet Pinto; and Mr Ruben D’Souza. Winners of various competitions were felicitated by the dignitaries.

    • 2nd Place: Team Permannur
    • 3rd Place: Team AGG
  • Variety Competition:

    • 1st Place: Episcopal City Deanery
    • 2nd Place: City Deanery
  • Battle of Bands:

    • 1st Place: Team Rhythmic Heaven
    • 2nd Place: Team Crescendo

From the performers to the audience, everyone departed with cherished memories of a day that embodied the vibrant spirit of the YCS. This remarkable event has laid the foundation for a tradition that will undoubtedly thrive in the years to come.
