MANGALURU, JULY 04: Msgr Very Rev. Maxim Noronha, Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese disbursed financial aid to 97 needy students, belonging to all faiths, toward continuation of their school/college education on Sunday, July 4, 2022 at CODP, Mangalore
In his welcome address, Fr Vincent Dsouza, Director, CODP said, “CODP, on behalf of Mangalore Diocese, disburses financial aid to needy students every year. This year the scholarship amount disbursed at the beginning of the academic year amounts to Rs 5, 65, 500.” He also said that this is only a portion of the total amount of charity by CODP. “Annually more than half a crore rupees are disbursed through various charitable works”, he added.
Fr Vincent then briefed the gathering about the various developmental activities carried out by CODP for the upliftment of the marginalized people.
Msgr Rev. Maxim Noronha distributed scholarship aid to beneficiaries present. In his speech he said that every student should have the urge or desire to keep studying. Motivating the students he said, “One should help the other poor students by their personal contribution after getting jobs. Cheerful giver receives in hundred fold.”
The aid distribution program was followed by short information about various government schemes for minorities and how to avail them by Rev. Fr Vincent DSouza.
On this occasion an awareness program on Natural Resource Management was given by Ms. Lenet Deena Gonsalves, Program Manager of CODP.
Mr Stephen Pinto, Advisor of EDUCARE Trust was the guest of honor present on the dais, who distributed cheques to college students.
Mr Praveen Crasta, Mrs Veena D Souza, Mrs. Lynet Fernandes, Mrs Philomena DSouza and Mrs Osvita D Souza of CODP assisted in distributing the cheques and vouchers to the needy students.
