The Annual Education help Distribution programme of CODP for the year 2016-2017 was held on May 30th 2016 at CODP-ISD conference hall. The programme commenced at 11.00 am in CODP Conference hall with prayer led by Mrs. Asha and Team. Rev. Fr. Oswald Monteiro, Director of CODP and Fr. Vernon Vaz, the Coordinator of Guidance Cell were on the dais.
Fr. Oswald Monteiro, in his welcome speech said that CODP has always been working for the development of poor in the society. However mere charity does not help development, rather we should make use of the available assets in and around us. He then encouraged the participants to avail Govt. facilities and develop themselves.
Mrs. Shanthi D’souza Coordinator of CODP briefly explained about various government scholarships available for minorities and how to apply for them.
Fr. Vernon Vaz Coordinator of Guidance Cell distributed the aid to beneficiaries. Fr Vernon in his speech explained that since we do not get funds from foreign agencies, we have to generate our own funds. Those who have money should contribute to the common fund generously in order to meet the requirements of the poor and needy in our parishes. This will help those poor families who require funds for the education of their children.
A total number of 132 applicants were given the educational aid on this day.
Mrs. Veena D Souza, the staff of CODP compered the programme. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Shanthi D Souza.
