Sep 20 : The funeral rites and Eucharistic celebration of Fr Edwin Mascarehnas was held at St Don Bosco Church Bola Kelmbet , on Sunday, 20 September 2020 at 4pm.The funeral Mass was presided over by Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore and concelebrated with Most Rev Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi and Manny priests. Fr J B Saldanha , Parish Priest Bejai Church offered panegyric. His body was kept for public viewing at the Church and many priests, religious and lay faithful paid their last respect to Fr Edwin.
He was born on 9 July 1963 to Mr. Maurice Mascarehnas and Faustina Mascarehnas at Kelmbet. He was ordained priest for the diocese of Mangalore on 7 May 1991. He served as the Assistant Parish priest at Shirva, Omzoor, Bendur parishes. He was the Parish Priest at Petri and Anegudde parishes. He was a good educationist, Headmaster at St Joseph School Bidar, St Anthony P U College Naravi, Principal Permannur College and Parochial Administrator at Mariashram Talapady.
He just arrived to Valencia Church as Socius and meantime his health condition deteriorated. He was a good pastor, an educationist more over a humane person.
