Puttur, Jan 24 : On the occasion of Diamond Jubilee Finale of St Philomena College Puttur, Institutions Day was celebrated on January 23, 2019 in College Quadrangle.
The Vicar General of Mangaluru Diocese Rt Rev. Maxim L Noronha participated as the chief guest. In his address, he said, ‘Education in its general sense is a form of learning in which knowledge and skills of people are transformed from one generation to the next through teaching and learning.’
The Registrar (Evaluation) of Mangalore University Dr Ravindrachary V, Ex MLA of Mangaluru South Constituency Mr J. R. Lobo, Ex MLA of Puttur Constituency Mrs Shakunthala T. Shetty and Ex MLC of South West Teachers’ Constituency, Dakshina Kannada Capt. Ganesh Karnic participated as the guests of honour.
The Bishop of Bellary Diocese Most Rev. Dr Henry D’Souza delivered presidential address.
On this special occasion, rank winners in the University Examinations and sports achievers were felicitated. The faculty and students who have cleared NET and KSET were also honoured.
The Correspondent of the College Very Rev. Fr Alfred J Pinto, Principal of PU College Rev. Fr Vijay Lobo, President of Parent Teacher Association Mr Antony Olivera, President of Alumni Association Mr Jairaj Bhandary graced the occasion.
The members of Performing Arts presented the prayer. The Campus Director Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro welcomed the gathering. The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha presented the annual report report of the College. The Secretary of Staff Association Prof. Ganesh Bhat proposed the vote of thanks. The HoD of Commerce Prof. Maxim Carl compered the programme.
At the same time, cultural presentations by the students added colour to the programme.
