May 26, 2017 : The lucky coupons draw of Lenten Campaign 2017 and the Annual Education & Housing aid Distribution programme of CODP for the year 2017-18 was held on May 25th 2017 at CODP Mother Theresa hall. The programme commenced at 10.30 am in CODP with prayer led by Mrs. Asha and CODP team. Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D ‘Souza, Bishop of Mangalore and Rev. Fr. Oswald Monteiro, Director of CODP were present on the dais.
The Director of CODP Fr. Oswald Monteiro, in his welcome speech said that CODP has always been working for the development of poor in the society. However mere charity does not help development, rather we should make use of the available assets in and around us. He then encouraged the participants to avail Govt. facilities and develop themselves and improve their financial status.
Bishop Aloyisus Paul D’ Souza then distributed education and housing aid to beneficiaries. CODP organization helps the needy since the last 43 years. It also has been working for the development of the poor and needy in the society by encouraging them to avail government facilities. He said that each person should aim to become rich and then in turn should help other needy families in the society. We should not depend on others but try to be independent as early as possible and strive hard for the same. He wished success to all the participants and motivated them to become self sustainable.
Mrs. Shanthi D’souza explained about various government schemes for minorities and how to get them. Mr. Santhosh Monteiro compered the programme and Mrs. Veena D Souza proposed the Vote of thanks.
A total number of 110 applicants were given the aid on this day.
