Microbiology Research Laboratory Inaugurated at St Joseph Engineering College

Apr 10 : To drive the research activities emanating in the field of Civil Engineering, the Microbiology Research Laboratory at St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, was inaugurated on 5 April 2021.

Prof Sreenivasa M Y, Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Mysore, Mysuru and Prof Babu Narayan K, Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at NITK, Surathkal, inaugurated the laboratory in the presence of Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director of SJEC, Rev. Fr Rohith D’Costa and Rev. Fr Alwyn Richard D’Souza, Assistant Directors of SJEC, Dr Rio D’Souza, Principal of SJEC, Mr Rakesh Robo, HR Manager of SJEC were also present on the occasion.

After the welcome address by Dr Yajnheswaran B, Professor & Head of Civil Engineering Department at SJEC, Dr Bhaskar S, Convener of the program, introduced the guest and displayed bioluminescent microbes to the gathering.

 

Prof Babu Narayan spoke about microbes impending in the Civil Engineering field and also gave insights on interdisciplinary work at the micro-organism level that can account for various branches of Civil Engineering.

Prof Sreenivasa appreciated the initiative taken by the Department of Civil Engineering in the field of Microbiology. He lauded the efforts made of the entire team in making the vision into reality.

Dr Bhaskar, proposed the vote thanks. Ms Reena James Rodrigues compered the program.

Post the inaugural, the Chief Guests delivered technical talks in the domain of their expertise.
