Onam Festival celebrated at St Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu

Sep 14 : Onam is the annual feast of Kerala state. It is one of the prominent feasts to all the Keralites. To mark the celebration of this feast, the seminary along with the cooperation of the seminarians from Kerala celebrated Onam on 11th September, 2019.

The celebration began on the previous day with the prayer service. Rev. Dn. Mathukutty led the congregation in the prayer service. The liturgical activities were taken up by the seminarians of Mar Thoma Malayala Samajam. Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Mundadan presided over the Holy Eucharist. Rev. Fr. Milton Jacob and Rev. Fr. Alexander Kallarikkal were the con-celebrants. The Eucharistic celebration was in Syro Malabar rite.

Mar Thoma Malayala Samajam launched their annual anthology ‘Punchiri (smile)’. It was also the day for all Mar Thoma Malayala Samajam members to culminate the centenary year of the association.

To commemorate the feast, drawing, poem and story writting competitions were conducted as the part of the feast and prizes were distributed to the winners. Onakkalikal (Onam games) were also conducted.

In the afternoon whole seminary came together to share the fellowship and festal meal as the part of the feast.
