St Joseph Engineering College celebrates its Annual College Day

Mangaluru, May 21 : St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru celebrated its Annual College Day on 20 May 2022 in the Kalam Auditorium of the College. Mr Dinesh A U, Director of Human Resources & Admin at Rittal India Pvt Ltd was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Mr Adrian D’Souza, Project Lead at SecurEyes Techno Services Pvt Ltd and an alumnus of the college from the Class of 2008 was the Guest of Honor. Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore and President of SJEC presided over the programme.

Dr Rio D’Souza, Principal of SJEC presented the annual report of the college. Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director of SJEC welcomed the gathering to the occasion.

 

 

Mr Adrian D’Souza spoke about the need to accept and adapt amidst the rapid growth in technology. He said that the students should thrive to be good at their trade if they want to have an upper hand over their counterparts. He called upon the students to pursue their passion and be relentless in the pursuit of excellence while staying away from distractions.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Dinesh A U, said that one should celebrate life, celebrate education and celebrate success. He went on to say that purpose, personality and perseverance are crucial in all spheres of life. He said that the students must learn to work in teams, take up projects relevant to the local needs and make the society a better place to live in.

The event also witnessed the felicitations of all student achievers in sports and academics. The Guests, along with the President distributed various excellence awards. The University level rank holders were facilitated during the event. Faculty achievements were also honoured.

In his presidential address, His Excellency, the Bishop of Mangalore said that College Day is a day of joy and it is a day for the SJEC family. He wished that the students would experience these moments and enjoy the warmth of friends. He opined that the college has stood out and has built credibility over the years. He called upon the students to choose a difficult path that can make a difference and make them the best.

Mr Rolvin D’Silva, Convener of the event delivered the vote of thanks. Rev. Fr Alwyn Richard D’Souza, Assistant Director of SJEC along with Ms Prathibha KN, Convener of the programme were the other dignitaries on the dais. Mr Glenson Toney and Ms Himani Kishan Raj compered the formal programme.

A cultural extravaganza followed the formal event with the students displaying their wonderful music and dancing skills. The cultural program was compered by Vinol Arun and Adeline Rose Pinto.
