The program began with the Holy Eucharist in the Immaculate Conception church, Kifaru. The children carried the foundation stones to the altar during the entrance procession. Then the stones were blessed and kept near the Altar. Then the Logo of the Rupert Children’s Home was unveiled by the Parish Priest, Rev Fr. Hilary Lobo. The Holy Eucharist was celebrated for the intention of the RUPERT Children’s home, for the donors and the work. After the Mass all went in procession to the building site and Rev. Fr. Victor Machado blessed the site.

RUPERT Children’s Home is the new venture of the Same Mangalore Africa Mission. It is a home for the very poor, orphan, and children of the problematic families, who are good in studies but do not have proper atmosphere in their place for study. Children of 5, 6 and 7th Standard will be brought here and they will go to the local Government School and they will be given good coaching in RUPERT HOME.

The name RUPERT is given as per the request of the donor. The donors are helping in the name of Rupert their adopted son who died of accident many years back. The word RUPERT means SHINE and we aim at enshrining the children. Further we have elaborated the objectives from the very name RUPERT. R – means Rural; U – means Uplift; P – means Program of; E – means Education; R – means Reinforcement; T – means Transformation.
