April 24 : Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha inaugurated Moodbidri Agriculturists’ Association ‘Samruddhi (R.)’ at Moodbidri Church Hall on April 23, 2019. The decision to form this association was taken during the Silver Jubilee celebration of Catholic Sabha Moodbidri Deanery last year.
Inaugurating the association, Bishop opined that like soldiers , farmers are backbone of this country. ‘Samruddhi (R)’ is giving an opportunity to farmers to work in unity regarding issues concerning them. He lauded the unique initiative of Catholic Sabha Moodbidri Deanery in this regard.
Pradeep DSouza , Director, Horticulture Department, Mangaluru was the resource person who advised people on benefits of associations and how we can improve our agricultural productions and market if we work in unity.
Senior Priest Rev Mark Valder, All India Catholic Union president Lancy D’Cunha, Catholic Sabha Central Committee president Rolphy DCosta, Catholic Sabha Moodbidri deanery President Victor Kadandale were present on the dais.
Catholic Sabha Moodbidri Deanery handed over a cheque of Rs 25000 to the newly formed association as an initial help. Office bearers and Directors of the association were honoured by Bishop.
‘Samruddhi (R)’ President Alwyn Menezes welcomed the gathering and secretary Arun Pereira proposed vote of thanks. Andrew DSouza compered the programme.
In the beginning , candle light prayer service was held for the victims of Sri Lanka bomb explosion to show solidarity with our brethren in Sri Lanka. Bishop Peter Paul led the prayer service.
