MANGALURU: To evaluate ongoing pastoral initiatives and strengthen collaborative efforts, the Diocese of Mangalore convened the Diocesan Pastoral Commissions Secretaries’ Meeting on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Bishop’s House.

The significant gathering, centered on the theme “Together in Mission, Building a Synodal and Missionary Church,” was presided over by the Bishop of Mangalore, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha.

Rev. Fr Naveen Pinto, Diocesan Pastoral Commission Coordinator and Judicial Vicar, coordinated the proceedings, delivering the introductory remarks and moderating the review sessions. The meeting served as a vital platform for assessing the implementation of the ongoing Three-Year Diocesan Pastoral Plan at the diocesan, deanery, and parish levels.

During the sessions, the secretaries representing the 22 Diocesan Pastoral Commissions presented comprehensive overviews of their respective portfolios. They shared detailed reports on programs conducted so far, highlighting key achievements and practical challenges, while also outlining upcoming priorities and strategic initiatives.

Addressing the pastoral leaders, Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha expressed his profound appreciation for the dedicated work and strategic planning undertaken by the various commissions in true alignment with the Synodal way. Delivering his pastoral guidance for the coming years, the Bishop emphasized the necessity of consolidated efforts. Echoing the scriptural call to build up God’s Kingdom, he urged the secretaries to prioritize deep coordination and collaborative action across all commissions to ensure their mission remains fruitful and impactful.

The meeting, which commenced with an opening prayer, concluded with a formal vote of thanks, marking a renewed commitment to collaborative church-building in the region.
