July 24, 2017: The funeral rites of Fr Lawrence Gomes (80 ) was held at Valencia Church on 24 July 2017 . Most Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza Bishop of Mangalore presided over the Eucharistic celebration along with Most Rev Dr Gerald Isac Lobo Bishop of Udupi and Concelebrant priests from both the dioceses.
Fr Basil Vas the nephew of Fr Lawerence Gomes preached the Homily at the mass. Fr Peter Noronha gave the panegyric.
Fr Lawrence native of Bantwal joined the seminary in 1954, ordained priest in 1962 served in Agrar, Bendur,Kadaba,Belman, Sasthan,Shirva, Karkal Town parishes and lived in retired Priests Home Jeppu till his death.
There are many vocations from Fr Lawerence Family; Fr Basil Vas, Parish Priest of Madanthyar, Fr Norbert Lobo, Parish Priest of Mukka and Fr Naveen Prakash ,H M at Sampaje School and religious sisters were present at the mass.
There were many priests and also faithful from the parishes where Fr Lawerence served were present for the funeral rite.
