March 30 : The parishioners of Our Lady of Pomperi Church, Gurpur – Kaikamba gathered at “Khursa Guddo” to commemorate the arrival of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem with fronds of coconut shoot (Talliyo). This was followed by a procession from the historic “Khursa Guddo” to the renovated community hall, “Pompei Sabha Bhavana”. Fr. Antony Lobo and Fr. Pius Pinto inaugurated this building in the presence of parishioners.
Soon after the holy mass, a short inauguration ceremony was presided over by the parish priest, council leaders and the newly elected presidents of Kandavara, Mulur and Ganjimutt gram panchayats. Mr. Lancy Dcunha was honoured for his contribution as the main engineer of the building. Mr. Richard Fernandes was honoured for his contribution as the former vice president of the parish council. All the three Panchayat presidents were felicitated during the ceremony. Mr. Boobanna, the main mason was also acknowledged.
