ICYM Mangalore diocese youth participate in Karnataka Regional Youth Convention

Oct 29 : The 11th Karnataka Regional Youth Convention was held in Arogya Mathe Shrine, Bellary from 24th Oct to 27th Oct , 2019. The Convention was named as YUVAJANOTSAVA 2019 with the theme “Youth Caring the Earth for a Better World”.

The Convention began with the celebration of Holy Eucharist, there after Diocese-wise solemn procession began along with the Synod cross and Diocesen flags to the Venue.

The inaugration of the Convention was done by Poojya Shri Nijagunaprabhu Thontadarya Swamigalu by hoisting the flag along with Most Rev Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary and Chairman KRCBC Youth Commission, Sri Nagendra, MLA, Ballari Rural, Sri KC Kondiah, MLC, Sri Allum Veerbhadrappa, MLC were present on the dias.

The 4 days youth Convention was based on different topics such as Youth Caring for Mother Earth, Youth Building a better world, Commitment to care for earth for a better world. Speakers from different places came and dealt with these topics and even group discussions and presentations on this was conducted which helped to know the various perspectives, views on these topics.

Taize prayer was held on Oct 25th along with the confessions. Swachch Bharat, Green Karnataka, Beautiful Bellari and blood donation were organized where the youth actively took part and showed their concern towards the mother nature and humanity.

Karnataka Region YUVA RATNA awards were given to many youths from various dioceses who have excelled themselves in social, political, cultural, sports and other fields. Out of those, Mr. Santhosh Saldanha from Bajal, Mangalore was awarded for taking up service in police Department.

Every night there were Diocese-wise cultural programs based on convention theme. Animation was conducted by Mangalore youth along with Bosco Youth.

There was a rally organized for peace which was flagged off by Dr. Nasser Hussain, MP, wherein the Mangalore youth took part in this peace rally along with the diocesen flag, banner and Synod Cross . The tiger dance became the centre of attraction lead by the Mangalore youth.

It was a proud moment for the Mangaloreans as Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore visited the venue and took part in the eucharistic celebration on 27th Oct . The main celebrant was Archbishop Peter Machado, Archdiocese of Bangalore and president of KRCBC.

Vote of thanks was delivered by Fr. Lourd Raj , Karnataka Regional youth director.

Mangalore diocese ICYM director Fr. Ronald Prakash Dsouza, Diocese ICYM President Leon Saldanha , Secretary Veena Vas and nearly 100 youth from Mangalore Diocese took active part in this Convention.
