HISTORY :

Sampige parish was carved out of the parishes of Paladka in the north and Ferar in the south.  Fr Oswald Lasrado, the parish priest of Paladka constructed a chapel at Sampige in 1979 for about 80 families.   It was made an independent station on August 1, 1984 by the decree of Bishop Basil S. D’Souza with its own fixed boundaries.  Fr Norbert Lobo and his successor Fr Denis D’Souza, the successive parish priests of the Little Flower Church Niddodi were given the additional charge of Sampige station to work towards making it an independent parish at the earliest.  With the construction of presbytery by Fr Norbert Lobo and with the arrangement of finance for the new parish by Fr Denis D’Souza, Sampige was erected into an independent parish on June 10, 1990 by the decree of the Bishop Basil D’Souza, appointing Fr Simon D’Souza as its first parish priest on the feast of the Most Holy Trinity.
