HISTORY :
Nidpally was once a part of Puttur. The Catholics from here used to go to Puttur with great difficulty for Sunday Mass and other church services. In 1935, Fr R.D. Sequeira, Vicar Vara of Puttur, constructed a chapel at Nidpally, a mission station. It was blessed on February 21, 1935 and served from Puttur. Fr R.C. Goveas became the first resident priest on May 31, 1936. A church and a presbytery were built in 1958. Lot of work has been done by Fr Pius F. Pinto (1990-1995), the tenth parish preist. The new church building and the presbytery were inaugurated on February 20, 1993. The compound wall was also built during his time.
Fr Austin Peres is the fifteenth parish priest of Nidpally. He has given importance to agriculture.
