The Catholics of  KREC, Surathkal area used to meet at a house where a priest used to offer mass.  Fr J.P. Tauro, the founder parish priest built the church which was inaugurated on April 4, 1972.  He also began the Mukka Welfare Society where fishing boats were given to fishermen.  It undertook the preparation and sale of the dairy, poultry and animal feed.  He started a coconut garden, sank a  well  and constructed a water tank.

The presbytery, which was inaugurated on February 21, 1984 was built by Fr Vincent Martis.  The Grotto was built by Fr Water D’Mello.

Fr Harold D’Souza has bought 49 cents of land and started an English Medium School.
