Named after its rich, iron-like laterite soil (ukku meaning iron), Ukkinadka parish lies along the Kalladka–Cherkala Highway, serving the villages of Badiadka, Enmakaje, and Kumbdaje. Originally part of Bela parish, local Catholics endured a 16-kilometer journey to attend Mass until Ukkinadka (formerly Perdala) was canonically established as an independent parish on May 7, 1939, with Fr. Denis R. Louis as its first pastor.

Over the decades, a succession of dedicated priests nurtured the parish’s growth. A key milestone occurred in 1988 under Fr. Peter Fernandes with the erection of the Maniampare Chapel. The mission entered a new pastoral era on June 25, 2011, when the care of Ukkinadka was entrusted to the Pallottine Fathers under Fr. Stanislaus, while Maniampare was simultaneously made an independent parish.

Marking its Platinum Jubilee in 2014, Ukkinadka parish built a new presbytery to support its ongoing mission. Today, home to 60 devoted families (350 parishioners), Sacred Heart Church stands as a vibrant testament to enduring faith, community strength, and pastoral dedication in the region.
