HISTORY :
Paladka church is the first church dedicated to St Ignatius Loyola. Fr Salvadore D’Souza, the parish preist of Kirem thought of starting a chapel at Paladka. He bought ten acres of land on which the present church stands. On August 31, 1913 a petition was submitted to the Bishop for a regular parish. Distant villages of Kirem, Kinnigoly, Hosabettu, Karkal and Taccode were formed into the new parish of Paladka on November 17, 1913 by Bishop Paul Perini. Fr Salvadore D’Souza became its first parish priest.
Fr John B. D’Sa, the second parish priest (1922-1937) began the work of the church in 1929. Between 1937-1942, Fr Andrew J. Pinto continued the work. Fr Anthony Noronha (1942-1954) completed the church in 1949. It was blessed in May 1950 by Bishop Victor R. Fernandes. Fr Paul D.G. Rego (1955-1967) constructed Lourdes Grotto. Fr Peter Lobo (1967-1978) built a stage and electrified the church. Fr Oswald Lasrado (1978-1985) built a new presbytery, and was successful in getting the services of the nuns of Ursuline convent at Paladka. He started the Sampaje mission which was later handed over to Niddodi for administrative convenience.
Fr Mathias Pereira built the chapel of St Francis Xaveir at Saverapura as a sub-station. Fr Salvadore D’Souza started an elementary school in 1915 and constructed the building in 1917. Fr Anthony Noronha completed the foundation of St Ignatius Loyola School. Fr Paul D.G. Rego completed the building between 1955-1967. Fr Mathias Pereira constructed a part of the new school building and with the money left by him on his transfer, Fr Benjamine Pinto completed it.
Fr Norbert Lobo is the 10th parish priest of Paladka.
