HISTORY :
Originally Salethur was a part of Mogarnad. Because of the long distance to Mogarnad, the people requested the Bishop to let them have a chapel. Rev. Fr Harold Menezes of Mogarnad constructed the chapel and it was blessed by Bishop Basil D’Souza on February 9,1977. It was being served from Mogarnad. The Bishop then requested the Superior of the Society of Pilar, Goa to send some priests to Mangalore Diocese and Rev. Fr Victor D’Souza sfx and Fr E. Fernandes sfx were sent from Goa. On June 17, 2001 the Bishop handed over the Salethur Mission Station to the Pilar fathers and appointed Rev. Fr Victor D’Souza as the resident Chaplain and Fr Fernandes as the assistant.
This mission station was raised into a parish on February 9, 2002, carving it out of Mogarnad (75 families) and Karady (24 families), by Bishop Aloysius P. D’Souza. Fr Victor D’Souza was appointed the first parish priest of Salethur.
